BIRD WATCHING ITINERARY 3 DAYS

1

Day 1 Arrival in Minca

Transportation: Departure at 10:00 a.m. from Santa Marta to the village of Minca.
Noon: Arrival in Minca, reception and transfer to the selected hotel.
Accommodation: Enjoy a natural environment surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation in the ecological capital of Colombia.
Lunch: Relax with a delicious lunch typical of the region.
16:30 – 18:00: First bird watching session. Begin the adventure exploring the rich biodiversity of Minca, home to birds such as:
Zone-tailed Hawk, Red-billed and Coppery Emeralds, Barred Antshrike, Venezuelan and Brown-capped Tyrannulets, Golden-fronted Greenlet, Rosy Thrush-Tanager, Swallow Tanager, Golden-winged Sparrow, Red Legged Honeycreeper, Black Striped Sparrow, Ferruginous Pygmy Owl, Keel-billed Toucan, Whooping Motmot, Collared Aracari, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, Orange-chinned Parakeet, Rufous-capped Warbler, Gray-headed Tanager, Blue-backed Grosbeak, White-Chinned Sapphire.

Day 2 Minca - La Tagua

6:00 – 9:00: Early morning birdwatching, in the first hours of the day, you will explore more of Minca, a true bird sanctuary in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Breakfast: The group returns to the hotel for a well-deserved typical breakfast.
Rest: You will take some time to relax in the hotel facilities before the next adventure.
Transfer to La Tagua: Drive to the charming village of La Tagua, a key point of biodiversity and bird watching in Santa Marta.
Lodging: Accommodation in an ecological lodge with impressive views of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Lunch: Enjoy a local lunch upon arrival at the lodge.
Cultural afternoon: Discover the Wiwa traditions, one of the native indigenous communities. Learn about their connection with birds and nature through stories, songs and their deep knowledge of the region’s fauna.

Day 3 La Tagua - Return to Santa Marta

6:00 – 9:00: Birdwatching morning at La Tagua. In this special habitat you will be able to observe endemic and rare birds such as:
The Cock-of-the-rock(Rupicola peruvianus) and the Mountain Tanager(Anisognathus notabilis) Streak Capped Spinetail, among other species exclusive to this region of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Expert indigenous guides will help you identify the most remarkable birds and tell you unique details about their behavior and habitat.
Breakfast: Return to the lodge to enjoy a revitalizing breakfast.
Departure to Santa Marta: Transfer back to Santa Marta, ending an unforgettable bird watching experience.

Reservation Policies

To book this tour, a deposit of $52 USD per person is required, equivalent to 10% of the total value of the tour ($520 USD), through our web payment gateway, the remaining 90% ($468 USD) must be paid at the Wiwa Tours office, the same day we leave for the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, remember that Colombians must pay 19% VAT.
The identity document is a fundamental requirement to book the Birdwatching Tour, for nationals, a copy of the personal identification card or passport in case of being a foreigner. For the day we leave for the tour, it is not necessary to bring your identity card, at least bring a copy of it.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy
For cancellations, WIWA TOURS applies a penalty of 100% of the value deposited in the reservation equivalent to 10% of the total value. However, if notice is given at least 20 days in advance, the client may transfer the reservation to another person, change the tour or request a voucher to be redeemed in the next six months.
No Show and Penalties
Failure to show up at the agreed date and time will result in the charge of 100% of the value reserved for this activity, which is equivalent to 10% of the value of the tour. WIWA TOURS is not responsible for external causes, such as delays, missed flights, illness, notice problems, or any other situation that prevents the punctual arrival at the meeting point.
Bonus Voucher
WIWA TOURS can issue a voucher that allows you to reschedule the reservation or use it in another trip without loss of the deposit. This voucher is valid for six months from its issuance and will not be reimbursed for any difference in value of the contracted services.
Reprogramming of the Reservation
It is possible to reschedule a reservation, as long as it is requested at least ten (10) days prior to the start date of the trip.
Reserve Modification
Travelers are responsible for managing changes to their reservations and bear the associated costs. Rescheduling is subject to WIWA TOURS approval and may involve additional fees.
Right of Withdrawal
The customer has a maximum period of five (5) business days, counted from the delivery of the good or conclusion of the contract, to exercise the right of withdrawal. This right will be adjusted according to the provisions of Article 47 of Law 1480 of 2011.
