Colombia Lost City Trek


Day 1

Start of the tour from the city of Santa Marta in a 4 × 4 Jeep until arriving at the village of Guachaca, where a new road trip begins uncovered until you reach the Encanto (Indigenous Village Wiwa). Here all the adventurers get off the 4 × 4 vehicle and get ready for a short walk of approximately 15 minutes to reach the GOTSEZHY REFUGE (Wiwa Indigenous Settlement) 1st Camp where they will spend the first day of adventure. In this cultural destination the adventurers will have accommodation with lunch and dinner. Here you will have the opportunity to get to know a magical place unmatched under the tropical jungle of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, called the Matuna Waterfall, one of the hidden wonders of the Guachaca River, here tourists will enjoy a refreshing swim in this beautiful natural waterfall After the Wiwa indigenous guide will explain in the company of MAMO and some other indigenous people their culture, the histories, customs and traditions of the Wiwa indigenous community, as well as explain the process of all their crafts created with resources that Mother Nature offers them ; We will spend the first night in the GOTSEZHY REFUGE, where we will sleep peacefully in comfortable hammocks.


Day 2

The day starts by raising tourists very early to have breakfast and start with the Trek, which will be approximately 6 hours, during this walk you will go through beautiful ecological trails and some viewpoints where we can observe the beauty of our Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta, during this Trekking They will have the opportunity to take photographs of the flora and fauna of the region. The walk of this day ends at the Vista Hermosa Cabain, 2nd Camp that is located 450 meters above sea level. In this camp the adventurers have lunch and dinner. The natural landscapes of the afternoon are beautiful and a cup of coffee or chocolate will be one of the options. The indigenous guide will explain about the customs and cultural traditions of the peasant region.


Day 3

After having breakfast very early, you will walk from the Vista Hermosa Cabain to take advantage of the freshness of the morning and so we will go on a great excursion of approximately 4 hours (12 Km) through green trails of jungle, river and mountain until you reach Wiwa Cabain, where they will have lunch, rest for a while and continue with the Trek for approximately 4 hours (12 Km) until the 3rd Camp, Paraíso Teyuna Cabain, place where we will settle and rest, This Camp is located at about 830 msnm, here we will be at the foot of The Lost City, the sacred city of the Tayronas. During this tour we will observe a good part of the nature and the great mountains of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta. In the afternoon there will be time to enjoy the place and a refreshing swim in the river. After dinner, the guide will explain culturally about the Lost City and the sacred significance for native indigenous communities descendants of the ancient Tayrona.


Day 4

Day 5

On the last day of the adventure, the adventurers have an early breakfast, then they will leave from the Wiwa Cabain heading towards the peasant community called the Mamey, this return Trek will be approximately 5 hours (12 km), being in the Mamey they will have a delicious typical lunch of the region, rest a moment to then start the trip back in Jeep 4 × 4 to the city of Santa Marta, we will be arriving where everything began at about 5:00 pm, approximately. The Jeep will drop us off at the Wiwa Tour main office, where you can say goodbye to the indigenous guide.

Important Information for the Lost City Trekking

During this New Lost City Trek 5 days you must respect the privacy of the Indigenous. We must not enter into their rooms or take pictures of them or their belongings without first asking them permission or talking with the guide to indicate what the protocol to follow is.
Carry only the essentials, since weight is a determining factor when walking, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and take back with you all trash to Santa Marta.
Do not damage natural or cultural assets. In the Lost City and during the tour there is no mobile phone signal, so notify your family and friends that you can only get in touch with them once you return from your trekking experience.
During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, shirts and walking shorts; during the night the temperature drops to 14 C approximately and there are a lot of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long sleeves shirts to sleep and to use insect repellent.

As a fundamental requirement to book The Tour to Lost City, you must present your personal ID and passport in case of being a foreigner at our Wiwa Tour main office. It is not necessary to carry the identity document the day we leave for the tour. Just take at copy of it.
To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 24 hours before the starting date of the Tour, during working hours.
Once The Lost City Tour begins, no refund of any kind will be made.
