New Lost City Trek ✅ This new trail to the Lost City of Tayrona is ideal for adventurers who have a good physical condition and who want to live with a Wiwa Indigenous Community on their first day of adventure learning from their culture and sustainable customs with the environment.

During this Trekking, you will observe in detail how the native indigenous guide of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta has a direct connection with nature, as well as knowing the history of the Lost City on the part of the indigenous natives, the itinerary of this tour was created with this purpose, that people who want to know and interact with the natives in this hiking excursion, can enjoy a little more time learning from the customs and way of life of the indigenous communities of the Sierra Nevada, enjoying a more lasting ancestral experience.

New excursion to Lost City


Day 1

Start of the tour from the city of Santa Marta in a 4 × 4 Jeep to reach the village of Guachaca, where a new route begins along an uncovered road until arriving at the Refugió Gotsezhy (Indigenous settlement Wiwa) where they will spend the first day of adventure, where they will have accommodation with lunch, dinner and breakfast included. You will also have the opportunity to get to know a magical cultural place under the jungle of the Sierra Nevada, called the Matuna Waterfall, one of the hidden wonders that this place has. The Wiwa indigenous guide of the area will explain the histories, customs and traditions of the Wiwa indigenous community; We will spend the first night in this indigenous village, where we will sleep peacefully in comfortable hammocks on the banks of the Gotsezhy river.


Day 2

The travelers will get up very early to start the Trek that will be approximately 8.5 km, during this walk they will pass through some viewpoints where we can observe the Caribbean Sea and the indigenous settlement, surrounded by a fauna and flora typical of the region. After reaching the Vista Hermosa Cabaña, this place is located 400 meters above sea level, there will be lodging with lunch, dinner and breakfast. The natural landscapes of the afternoon are beautiful and a cup of coffee will be one of the options. The indigenous guide will explain about the customs and cultural traditions of the region.


Day 3

After having breakfast, you will walk very early from Vista Hermosa to take advantage of the freshness of the morning and so we will go on a great excursion of approximately 24 km through trails of jungle, river and mountain until you reach the Paraiso Teyuna hut, place where we will settle and rest, This indigenous cabin located at about 830 meters above sea level, here we will be at the foot of The Lost City, the sacred city of the Tayronas. During this tour we will observe a good part of the nature and the great mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. In the afternoon there will be time to enjoy the place and a refreshing swim in the river, in the evening, after eating, the guide will explain in detail about the Lost City and its sacred significance for the local indigenous communities.


Day 4

After breakfast very early starts the journey of about 1 km, to reach the first stone stairs of the Lost City, climb the 1,200 steps and the adventurers observe in the first instance the architecture and the first terraces of the City Lost Tayrona, in this place is expected that all walkers of the group are together to follow the protocol of entry to this Archaeological Park, ancestral and sacred place for the indigenous and for the local community, the journey within the Lost City will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, during which our travelers will walk and know the history and culture of this ancient Indigenous civilization that lived for many years in what we know today as the Lost City Tayrona, during the time it is there they can enjoy of the landscape and take excellent photographs, finished the tour, will descend to Parayote Teyuna Camp, place where take lunch, rest and then continue with the descent to the Wiwa Cabin where they will rest and spend the night.


Day 5

On the last day of the adventure, breakfast early, then leave from this camp to the peasant community called the Mamey, this Trek back will be about 12 km, being in the Mamey, take a delicious lunch typical of the region, then we will leave for the city of Santa Marta in the Jeep 4 * 4 that took us out, we will be arriving at where everything started at around 5:00 pm, approximately. The Jeep will drop us off at the Wiwa Tour main office, where you can say goodbye to the indigenous guide and the fantastic cultural experience.

Important Information for the Lost City Trekking

During this New Lost City Trek 5 days you must respect the privacy of the Indigenous. We must not enter into their rooms or take pictures of them or their belongings without first asking them permission or talking with the guide to indicate what the protocol to follow is.
Carry only the essentials, since weight is a determining factor when walking, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and take back with you all trash to Santa Marta.
Do not damage natural or cultural assets. In the Lost City and during the tour there is no mobile phone signal, so notify your family and friends that you can only get in touch with them once you return from your trekking experience.
During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, shirts and walking shorts; during the night the temperature drops to 14 C approximately and there are a lot of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long sleeves shirts to sleep and to use insect repellent.

Reservation Policy.

To book this tour per person, a deposit of 10% of the total value of the tour is required, through our web payment gateway, the remaining 90% must be canceled at our Wiwa Tours office, the same day we leave for The Lost City.
As a fundamental requirement to book The Tour to Lost City, you must present your personal ID and passport in case of being a foreigner at our Wiwa Tour main office. It is not necessary to carry the identity document the day we leave for the tour. Just take at copy of it.
To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 24 hours before the starting date of the Tour, during working hours.
Once The Lost City Tour begins, no refund of any kind will be made.
