This 6 days trip to Lost City is ideal for adventurers who do not have an excellent physical condition and who want to know it, the itinerary of this tour was created with this purpose, that people who want to know and enjoy hiking, can do it with a little more time for this excursion, thus enjoying a more lasting experience.

Thanks to our indigenous guides, we will have the opportunity to know in deeply all the culture and indigenous customs, typical of our elder brothers who inhabit the Sierra Nevada and have a relationship of harmony with nature and the environment.

During the Trekking you can travel to this magnificent ecological journey and enjoy The Lost City and the landscapes and ecosystems of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.

DEPARTURE TIME Please arrive at 8:15 AM to the indicated meeting point for an early departure at 8:30 AM.
RETURN TIME Approximately at 4:30 PM in the last day of the tour.

Trekking to the Lost City


Day 1

We will start the tour from the city of Santa Marta in a 4×4 jeep to reach the village of Guachaca, where we will begin a new journey along an unpaved road until arriving at the Gotsezhy Refuge (Wiwa Indigenous Settlement) where we will have accommodation with lunch, dinner and breakfast included. You will also have the opportunity to know a magical place under the jungle of the Sierra, called the Matuna Waterfall, one of the hidden wonders that this place has. The indigenous guide of the area will explain the histories, customs and traditions of the Wiwa indigenous community; We will spend the first night in this indigenous reserve, where we will sleep peacefully in comfortable hammocks on the banks of the Gotsezhy river.

Day 2

We will get up very early to start the Trek that will be approximately 8.5 km. During this hike we will go through some viewpoints where we can see the Caribbean Sea and the indigenous settlement, surrounded by a fauna and flora typical of the region, after this we will get to Vista Hermosa Cabain; This place is located at 400 meters above sea level, over here will be lodging with lunch, dinner and breakfast. The natural landscapes of the afternoon are beautiful and a cup of coffee will be one of the options. The indigenous guide will explain about the customs and cultural traditions of the region.

Day 3

After having breakfast, we will walk approximately 7.3 km to Wiwa Cabain, where we will lodge, we will have lunch and afterwards we will have the opportunity to take a bath in a crystalline river. In the afternoon, the indigenous guide will explain about the culture of the indigenous communities of the area and the customs of the local communities, everything will be explained from the indigenous point of view, the traditional Cosmo vision about the importance of nature and the awareness of the indigenous communities on the Mother Earth, in the evening we will take dinner and we will pack our suitcase, for the next day to start with the Trekking that will lead us towards the Lost City Teyuna.

Day 4

The guide will advise to all the members of the group the importance to get up early to take advantage of the morning’s freshness, this hike it is of approximately 9.6 km until you reach Paraíso Teyuna Camp, an indigenous hut located at about 830 mts above sea level, here we will be at the foot of The Lost City, the sacred city of the Tayronas. During this tour we will observe a good part of the nature and the great mountains of the Sierra Nevada from Santa Marta. In the afternoon there will be time to enjoy the place and a refreshing swim in the river, after eating in the evening, the guide will explain in detail about the Lost City and its sacred significance for the local indigenous communities.

Day 5

After having breakfast, we start the journey of approximately 1 km, to reach the first stone stairs of the Lost City, climb the 1,200 steps and reach the first Teyuna terraces, in this place we wait for all the members of the group to be together to follow the protocol of entry to this ancestral and sacred place for the indigenous guides and for the local community, the tour will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes inside the archaeological park, walking on all the terraces of Lost City, during the time that we are here we can enjoy the scenery and take excellent pictures, after finished the tour, we will descend to Paraiso Teyuna Camp, where we will take lunch, and rest an hour or so, to continue with the descent to the Wiwa Cabain where we will rest and spend the night.

Day 6

On the last day of the adventure, we will have breakfast early, then we will leave from this camp to the rural community called Mamey, this return Trek will be about 12 km, when we get to Mamey, we will have a delicious lunch, then We will leave for the city of Santa Marta in the 4×4 jeep that take us back, we will be arriving to where everything started at around 5:00 p.m. The jeep will drop us off at Wiwa Tour main office, where you can say goodbye to the indigenous guide and the fantastic cultural experience.

Important Information for the Lost City Trekking

During this Lost City Tour 6 days you must respect the privacy of the Indigenous. We must not enter into their rooms or take pictures of them or their belongings without first asking them permission or talking with the guide to indicate what the protocol to follow is.
Carry only the essentials, since weight is a determining factor when walking, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and take back with you all trash to Santa Marta.
Do not damage natural or cultural assets. In the Lost City and during the tour there is no mobile phone signal, so notify your family and friends that you can only get in touch with them once you return from your trekking experience.
During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, shirts and walking shorts; during the night the temperature drops to 14 C approximately and there are a lot of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long sleeves shirts to sleep and to use insect repellent.

Reservation Policy.

To book this tour per person, a deposit of 10% of the total value of the tour is required, through our web payment gateway, the remaining 90% must be canceled at our Wiwa Tours office, the same day we leave for The Lost City.
As a fundamental requirement to book The Tour to Lost City, you must present your personal ID and passport in case of being a foreigner at our Wiwa Tour main office. It is not necessary to carry the identity document the day we leave for the tour. Just take at copy of it.
To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 24 hours before the starting date of the Tour, during working hours.
Once The Lost City Tour begins, no refund of any kind will be made.

José luis et son équipe (guide, cuisinier,…) ont rendu inoubliable notre périple de 4 Jours. José nous a fait découvrir sa culture, les traditions de sa communauté. De nombreuses explications sur la naissance de la ciudad Perdida et son fonctionnement ont été fournies. Belles rencontres avec les personnes vivants sur ce lieu de culte. Repas variés et très copieux pour les petits déjeuners, les pauses et les dîners. Logements confortables. Une expérience incroyable entourée de gens très professionnels, chaleureux avec l’envie de transmettre leurs traditions et coutumes. Nous recommandons cette agence sans hésitation !
