Trekking to the Indigenous Village of Pueblo Chayrama

Within the Tayrona National Natural Park, besides having the best and most beautiful beaches of Santa Marta, there is also a Kogui settlement place, where you can see the spiritual connection between the indigenous community and nature.
At Pueblito Chayrama inhabited many years ago part of the Tayrona Indigenous People and it is now an ancestral place that houses the archaeological ruins of this community.
The Tayku indigenous people live at Pueblito Chayrama, now, here we can get to know their architecture and way of life, you will also interact with their culture and their traditions, you will observe this sanctuary rich in Biodiversity and will have the opportunity to observe the perfection harmony that exists between the indigenous peoples and the nature of the Tayrona National Natural Park.

One Day Tour

You leave at approximately 6:00 am from the Wiwa Tours main office, in 4x 4 vehicle, until you reach Calabazo Sector, the first entrance of Tayrona Park and where you will have a hearty breakfast to start the Trek ascending to our destination , during this journey you will walk through ecological trails of humid tropical forest, until we reach the archaeological ruins of Pueblito Chairama. During the tour you will find paths in stone and a system of terraces where the Kogui community natives live. After this you continue your journey going down to Cabo San Juan Del Guía where you will have lunch, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea, you will have a free time to take pictures and continue your journey to the Natural Pool, Reefs, where you can swim, Snorkeling and appreciate the howler monkeys and titis monkeys that live in the place, you continue to Cañaveral, where your tour will come to an end, there you will pick up the vehicle back to Santa Marta.

Important Information for the Excursion to Pueblito Chayrama


During this Trek to Pueblito Chayrama you must respect the privacy of the Indigenous. We must not enter into their rooms or take pictures of them or their belongings without first asking them permission or talking with the guide to indicate what the protocol to follow is.
Carry only the essentials, since weight is a determining factor when walking, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and take back with you all trash to Santa Marta.
Do not damage natural or cultural assets. In the Tayrona Pueblito and during the tour there is no mobile phone signal, so notify your family and friends that you can only get in touch with them once you return from your trekking experience.
During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, shirts and walking shorts; during the night the temperature drops to 14 C approximately and there are a lot of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long sleeves shirts to sleep and to use insect repellent.

o book this tour per person, a deposit of 20% of the total value of the tour is required, through our web payment gateway, the remaining 80% must be canceled at our Wiwa Tours office, the same day we leave for the Indigenous Community of Chayrama
As a fundamental requirement to book Tour to the Indigenous Community Tayrona, you must present your personal ID and passport in case of being a foreigner at our Wiwa Tour main office. It is not necessary to carry the identity document the day we leave for the tour. Just take at copy of it.
To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 24 hours before the starting date of the Tour, during working hours.
Once The Puelito Tayrona Chairama begins, no refund of any kind will be made.

Pueblito Chayrama, refers to a small indigenous settlement high up in the park’s mountains. The road is totally different from the one already traveled, to get here you need to have better physical condition.
