This trekking to Ciudad Perdida Colombia, was designed with the purpose that the hikers enjoy the trekking and also get to know the indigenous culture, enjoying a unique experience with the Indigenous Tourism.
During this hike you will be able to walk along a mountainous road and get to know the Lost City Tayrona the most beautiful landscapes and sceneries of the region. the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
On this adventure, you will see a native indigenous guide who has a close connection with nature, learn about the customs of the indigenous people and how they live in harmony with mother earth.

IMPORTANT If you wish to book this new tour to the Lost City, you must make a deposit of $ 200,000, which corresponds to 10% of the total value of the tour $2’000,000.
In order to run this new route, at least two adventurers are needed for the tour date.
The other 2 excursions we have are: 4 days tour to Ciudad Perdida and 5 days trek to Ciudad Perdida.
The camps, which are the places where they will have lodging and food, belong to the peasant and indigenous communities of the region, it must be taken into account that they are robust and geographically difficult to access, without the comforts that we have on a daily basis.
Accommodation in most of the cabins that segment the path to Ciudad Perdida is 70% Hammocks – 30% Beds, so the accommodation depends directly on the season and the demand of tourists who occupy that camp.
Keep in mind that the excursion to the Lost City is an adventure hike through trails surrounded by jungle, typical of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, which involves risks and constant physical activity.

LOST CITY TREKKING ITINERARY

1

Day 1

The tour starts in the city of Santa Marta, the tourists are transported in a 4×4 Jeep to the village of Guachaca where a route of approximately one hour by unpaved road begins until arriving at Guachaca. Gotsezhy (Wiwa Indigenous Community), this trip takes about one hour, 10 km uphill to the indigenous village.
This indigenous village is the starting point for a 20-minute ecological walk through the indigenous environment, passing by their houses and their way of life.
You will walk until you reach Gotsezhy Lodge, where you will observe the indigenous tourism in detail, you will spend the first day of your adventure in this place, here you will have lodging with lunch, dinner and breakfast.
The group will have an indigenous Chef who will receive them at the camp to provide them with a quality indigenous service.
Travelers have the opportunity to discover a unique site in the jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, called the Matuna Waterfall, one of the hidden wonders offered by this place.
While at the camp they will have the opportunity to see, learn and listen to one of the most meaningful talks for them, which is the process of weaving, painting and making the different handicrafts that they teach from generation to generation.
Therefore, the village’s own guide will teach the Maguey plant and the process of extraction of fique, fibers of the plant that are raw material to make their handicrafts.
The process is very simple, they use their own cultural tools to extract the fiber from the Maguey, this process is unique and is taught to each child in their adult process at night, in a unique place they gather to share in front of a campfire. Wiwa indigenous guide will explain their culture, stories, customs and traditions of the indigenous community.
You will spend the first night in this fascinating community and sleep peacefully in a bed or in a comfortable hammock on the river bank in a campsite with a mosquito net and blankets provided.

Day 2

In the morning after breakfast, travelers will be transferred from Gotsezhy by 4×4 vehicle to the Mamey trailhead.
It will take about 2 hours leaving at 9 am. Here begins the trek to Ciudad Perdida.
The route will be approximately 8.5 km, during this first day of hiking, passing through some viewpoints where you can see the Caribbean Sea and the indigenous settlement, surrounded by a unique mix of fauna and flora, and then reach the camp Vista Hermosa Cabin.
This camp is 450 meters above sea level, and there will be lodging with dinner and breakfast the following day. The natural scenery in the afternoon is beautiful and a cup of coffee will be the best option. The indigenous guide will explain about the customs and cultural traditions of the area before the group rests.

Day 3

After an early breakfast, the group continues with the trekking of approximately 24 km from the camp. Cabaña Vista Hermosa taking advantage of the coolness of the morning passing through the campsite. Wiwa hut where they will have lunch and continue on a great hike through jungle, river and mountain trails to finally arrive at the camp. Cabaña Paso Lorenzo, where you will have rest and lodging. This indigenous cabin is located at 830 meters above sea level. the Lost City, sacred city of the ancients Tayronas.
During this tour you will observe a good part of the nature and the great mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta. In the afternoon there will be time to enjoy the place and a refreshing swim in the river, in the evening, after lunch, the guide will explain in detail about the itinerary in the Lost City.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, the hike begins, which is approximately one kilometer long, to reach the first stone steps of the Lost City. The 1,200 steps are climbed and explorers observe the architecture and early terraces of these archaeological ruins. At this point, everyone waits for the rest of the group to join them before continuing.
The tour inside the Ciudad Perdida will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, during which time travelers will walk and learn about the history and culture of this ancient indigenous civilization that inhabited for many years in what is now known as the Lost City Tayrona, during the time you are there you will be able to enjoy the landscape and take excellent photographs. lunch, rest and then continue with the descent toPaso Lorenzo campground, where you will have lunch, rest and then continue with the descent to the Cabaña Wiwa camp where you will rest and spend the night.

Day 5

On the last day of the adventure, they will have an early breakfast, then they will leave this camp and head to the rural community of el Mamey, this return trek will be approximately 12 km long, here, you will have a delicious lunch typical of the region, then you will depart to the city ofMamey. Santa Marta by Jeep 4*4, you will be arriving to where it all started at approximately 4:00 pm. The Jeep will drop you off at the Wiwa Tour main office, where you can say goodbye to the indigenous guide and the fantastic experience.


Note: The itinerary of the trek to Ciudad Perdida may vary depending on weather conditions or means of ground transportation.

Important information for the hike to Ciudad Perdida

During this 5-day trek to the Lost City, you must respect the privacy and culture of the indigenous people. We should not enter their huts, or take photographs of them or their belongings, without first informing the indigenous guide of the protocol to follow.

Carry only the essentials in your suitcase, since weight is a determining factor when walking long distances, make sure you are in good physical condition, avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the day before and try to return all garbage to Santa Marta .

Not damage natural or cultural assets in the lost City . There is no cell phone signal during the tour, so please advise your family and friends that you will only be able to communicate with them once you return from your experience.

During the day the weather is hot and humid, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothes, T-shirts and shorts for walking; During the night the temperature drops to approximately 14 ° C and there is a greater presence of mosquitoes and other insects, it is important to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts to sleep and use insect repellent.

Reservation Policies

To book this tour, a deposit of $ 200,000, per person, equivalent to the 10% of the total value of the tour ($ 2’000.000.000), through our web payment gateway. Theremaining 90% ($ 1’800.000) must be paid at the office of Wiwa Tours , the same day we left for Ciudad Perdida.
The identity document is a fundamental requirement to reserve the Lost City Trek For nationals, a copy of the personal identification card or passport in case of being a foreigner. For the day we go out on the tour, it is not necessary to bring your identity document, at least bring a copy of it.
To cancel or modify a confirmed reservation, you must contact us 48 hours before the start of the Tour, during business hours.
Once the trekking to Ciudad Perdida has started, no refunds of any kind will be made.
