La Guajira is a desert peninsula in northern Colombia, with places such as Cabo de la Vela and Punta Gallinas, which are very attractive because of their contrast with the sea, the sun, the salt and the desert shrubs.
It is one of the driest areas of Colombia, its temperatures ranging between 27ºC and 30 ° C, with a maximum to 45 ° C, Its inhabitants have learned to take advantage of the geography and the conditions of the Guajira territory which gives rise to one of the strongest indigenous communities and most conserved in Latin America: the Wayuu, children of land and rain, settled in houses made in “Yotocoro” (Heart of Cactus) and bahareque, which contrast with the vivid colors of the hammocks or chinchorros woven by women belonging to the Wayuu ethnic group.
The peninsula Guajira, in addition to having a desert bordering extensive beaches with calm waters, offers its visitors a large number of exotic places with a nature full of photogenic and attractive landscapes which makes of this beautiful place an excellent setting for the practice of ecotourism and adventure sports, besides being able to observe the best sunset in Colombia.
